Reassembly

If you perform a complete disassembly of the Mauser rifle, or perform an improper field strip (very common experience), the bolt can be easily returned to it's safe position using a flat sided screw driver or similar tool. Make a peace sign with your fingers.

Hook Sear With Flat Sided
Screw Driver Edge

Screw the bolt together as much as it will easily go. Using your strong hand, hook the sear with the screw driver. Grasp the bolt with your weak hand firmly and slowly pull the bolt apart.   Be careful the screw driver doesn't slip and cause injury. Pull apart, and then carefully turn safety lever to "up".
